Vancouver 22 - Omaha 5
It was a night to remember for Fernando Castillo. Castillo had a single, double, 2 homeruns, 3 runs scored, and 9 RBI. The 9 RBI set a Vancouver Mounties single game record. However, his night didn't come without a little controversy.
"I was fired up tonight" said Castillo immediately after the game. "Raul Luna had run his mouth before the game, said something about my girlfriend. So I made a point to take it out on him and Omaha tonight." Luna would surrender one of the two homeruns to Castillo and allow 6 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in the game.
But Luna had a different take. "I don't even know Castillo. Nor do I even know who is girlfriend is. Safe to say, after tonight, I"m losing my girlfriend though."
After hearing this, Castillo re-tracted his statement: "I guess I owe Luna and Omaha a huge apology. Maybe next game I'll just tally 8 RBI instead" he said with a wink and a laugh. Not to be confused with a wink and a gun that closes deals.
In other game news, Angel Gonzalez tied the team record with 5 runs in the game. Gonzalez had a pair of singles, doubles, and walks. He finished the game 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and the 5 runs scored. Roberto Beltran managed 4 hits as well in the leadoff spot. The top 3 hitters in the lineup for Vancouver combined to go 12 for 16 with 12 runs scored and 12 RBI on the evening.
And oh yeah, nice butt whipping by the Pacific over the Heartland! Even if it was done by Vancouver.....
