Re: General PPT Ramblings
My take on writing Team News is that it comes down to finding the type of style that you think is going to be fun to read, and injects yourself into the writing a bit. The best part about this league is that every GM brings something different and exciting to the table, and it's fun to get a sense of the personalities of each GM and how they view their team. My style has always been to try and give a sense of telling about the Hammers with references to things in real life that I enjoy or find interesting. Also, I do read TN in order to better understand what other teams in the league are thinking about.

Ive definitely felt this way sometimes, but then i remind myself i do the TN and other stuff because as silly as it sounds i find it therapeutic, and i really enjoy doing it. I do feel bad when i can't get to everyone TN or features (due to the shear amount). Look I got called out for thanking a TN from years ago by @jiminyhopkins in one of his TNs!7teen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:29 am
There have been times Ive written what i felt was a creative TN and got no responses and felt bummed. I also write the sim reports and get no response and that's fine because I do that more for me, as we've said get a feel for my team, and just earn points with a recap. If I do a minor league report I know in my mind it probably won't get much read or comments in return and that's good as well. But wonder what others feel on that is.

Re: General PPT Ramblings
I confess, I do the TNs largely for myself - and I vary the approach season to season, depending on what appeals to me. Sometimes, it’s covering the team sim to sim like a (really bad) newspaper; sometimes, it’s exploring characters like Sox owner Vinnie Vitale or Diesel Dave, All Star; sometimes, especially when the team is bad or I’ve done something stupid, it’s making merciless fun of myself.
Some of what I post (like the monthly almanacs) is to preserve a record of the team that I (and whoever follows me) can refer to later.
But it’s always therapeutic - whether anyone reads it or not doesn’t especially matter to me. The main thing is the Sox are a terrific creative outlet that, sometimes, even let me pretend I’m back in a newsroom.
Cheapest therapy I’ve ever found ...

I agree with Vic. Pretty much all my writing--here and otherwise when it comes down to it--are for me. It also helps me be a better GM because it makes me think about my players.

Re: General PPT Ramblings
The benefits of doing TN's (no matter in what format) is hugely beneficial to going back and learning more about the history of the team/league. Since just looking at #s doesn't always do it. For example, just recently I did a TN about the 40th anniversary 2004 Champion Wolves <cough-cough> shameless plug team. All of the TN that Chis put into the 2004 Madison season, helped me tremendously in making that happen. I think like you said earlier back in the thread @RonCo - everyone has their own style. I used images with mine, @jiminyhopkins uses his comedic wit to tell his stories, @Fat Nige like to write about his MiLB, and you @RonCo and @HoosierVic are a great story tellers. Like @7teen said I find myself (usually on a slow Sunday morning) digging though all the teams news. I'm catching up on @Ted satirical poke at TNs this season, which in-of-itself are fun to read. As long as someone does meet the minimum requirement, I'm OK in what-ever format that takes.

Re: General PPT Ramblings
I’m struggling to make a balance these days, covering the minors as I do I’ve found it very hard to do justice to the Chilis. A lot of my separate TN’s that I would have normally done as roundups have gone by the time wayside. Trying all sorts of different templates to level the balance. . . and I haven’t managed a single word on the SA & R so far
