Transition to V26 On for 2063

Post by RonCo » Sat Apr 12, 2025 1:44 pm

Announcement: Transition to V26 On for 2063

All right, v26 has been out for a month and while we expect the normal series of patches, we’re (1) not seeing any reason to avoid it and (2) see several reasons we would want to move.

So the TLDR version: “Get a copy of V26 soon. Conversion will happen directly after the Monty.”

Among the things that come with v26 that we’re excited about are:

  • Improvement to the Development Lab
  • Improvement in Development and Aging
  • Improvement in splits
  • Adjustments/improvements with Fan Interest

There is more, of course. Among them are things like the fact that the expansion of the rating range to 600 (from last year’s expansion to 550) adds more differentiation and comes with a new “Red Rating” (to help differentiate low minor league players) that we will try out to see if we like it. And that draft classes will come with the game’s attempt to assess development risk. Those of you who have already grabbed the game can add more twists and nuances you like or don’t.

But, for now, to repeat the TLDR: Get a copy of V26 soon. Conversion will happen directly after the Monty.

Not trying to sound like a negative person, but I’m certain there will some real head scratching stuff with 26.

Have enjoyed being on 26 quite a bit more. Excited to finally move this save over.

25 reminds me of another version, was it 19 or 20 maybe, where I just really, really didn't like it. Might not even have been the version's fault, but I just didn't like it. Been so long I don't even remember why or even if I'm remembering the right year. It was around that time, though.

Looking forward to v26. I held off because honestly wasn't sure how I was feeling about the league because it does take a lot of my spare time. But damn it, I can't quit you fools. And even I tried, I'd just bounce back and be pissed someone took the Nine to a Monty instead of me, hahaha!

Let's do this!

Been playing a single player since the day it came out and it’s definitely a slight upgrade!

Are we going to use this: Added Prospect Promotion Incentive picks. If you call up your top rated prospects early and they win a major award before arbitration, you will receive a supplemental first round pick, as per MLB rules.

That's an interesting question. I haven't seen exactly how they implemented it. Worth looking at.

Considering the antipathy to S1 picks here, I wouldn’t anticipate any rules that add to them.

It’s an interesting rule though.

What I like most about v26 is solo-play stuff, such as Drive to the Pennant now available for any season; the "Korean" platers-have-to-miss a year or two due to military service, which dovetails with my 1941+ fantasy MLB start.

Dev Lab: yeah, I play out seasons, so I haven't learned much about the tweaked version of OOTP26. I like you can pull struggling players, and doing so does not mean they will automatically get a negative result.

Can you apply the military service option to other leagues?

Yes, I'm running with it in my 1941 start MLB, but I don't recall if I created that as a historical league or fantasy. Probably historical, with a lot of customization.
