Riyadh finally reach 100 losses

Perhaps the most significant event of this week was that the Red Crescents finally reached the 100 loss mark for the first time ever. They had of course been working towards it for some time and finally in game 147 they collected their 100th loss of the season. Three wins yes, but pretty irrelevant at this stage; Riyadh haven’t had a winning week since towards the end of July. This is only their second non-losing week since then. A disappointment was that owing to an administrative error in their paperwork Chris Glass and Cam Woods never made it to Riyadh. Glass will try again this week but obviously won’t have much time to impress. Woods though has had his UMEBA cup of coffee withdrawn as Grady Fern has surprisingly returned from the IL. Fern won’t be risked starting but he’ll take the few AB’s that Woods might have had to impress. The crowd continues to drift away, the first game of the week, against Bucharest, was the first Red Crescent game attended by less than 10,000 and then against Manama we set a new all time low of 9,982. Our season average has now dropped to under 16,000, over 4,000 less than Riyadh’s inaugural year. That will have serious consequences for the team with their budget now almost certainly dropping below the UMEBA salary cap of $55,000.

The last team in our minors still playing, South Guam, won three more games to take them to 65 wins, one more than in 2046. They finished off a 3-game sweep of bottom side Kuala Lumpur with three shutouts, outscoring the Koalas 22-0. They have two games left against second bottom Hokkaido to further extend their 2047 win tally.
