Cairo Weekly In-Season Report 4 (2055.7)

Post by Krathan » Tue Jun 13, 2023 4:00 pm

Another strong week in Cairo. The Pharaohs played seven games this week and won 5 of them. After completing the sweep in Athens with a 6-1 win, they won the first game in Sydney 10-0. Interestingly, the score of that game matched the team’s record in the previous 10 games. Then the winning streak was snapped as the Sharks won each of the next two games, 8-6 and 3-1. Cairo came back to win the series finale and earn a split of the 4 game set. The Pharaohs then won the first two games of their series with Tokyo to bring their season record to 17-7, keeping them in 2nd place in the GBC, 1 game behind Sao Paulo.

Santiago Duran continued his fantastic start to the season by adding 5 HR and 11 RBI during the week. He now leads the league in RBI with 27 in the first 24 games of the season. Other offensive contributors this week included Nacho Mendez who hit .364 with 2 HR, Miguel Hernandez who hit an impressive .533 with a home run, and Antonio Roman who drove in 9 runs while hitting .360 with a home run. The offense has scored an average of 6 runs per game, best in the league.

The best pitching performance of the week belonged to Guruvayur Vashisth. He pitched 7.2 excellent innings against Tokyo on 4/26. Vashisth currently leads the GBC in Pitcher WAR. The pitching staff as a whole has the 2nd best ERA in the league at this point in the season.
