Generally Speaking (44.7): Riding the Wildcard to a Championship

Tripoli, September 28, 2044 -- Riding the wildcard to a championship is the hope of the Libyan Generals, who squeaked into the Bancroft Division WC with an 82-80 record. For inspiration, they only need to look at their AAA team, the Ndali Barons, who won the African Baseball Alliance Championship after earning a posteason berth with a wildcard as well.

In fact, Ndali not only won the title, they did so quite handily, sweeping division rival Casablanca in four games, and then stomping on the Lagos Wreckers four-games-to-one:

The postseason domination by the Barons is particularly impressive given that the Wreckers of Lagos won 100 games in the regular season, and defeated its own wildcard opponent in a sweep.

Even though fans are now partying in the streets of Ndali, there is no rest for the Barons. We've just received word that certain members of the AAA club who are playoff-eligible are being promoted as the Generals take on the Impalers in the UMEBA playoffs. Most likely to be promoted are a few arms to bolster the injury-ravaged pitching staff of the Generals.

"Plus these guys at AAA clearly know how to win," adds Manager Luke Mayfield. "Hopefully the championship vibe will rub off."

Meanwhile, Generals GM MIke Dunn is enjoying the AAA title as a portent of the talent that will soon arrive permanently at the big league level. "We're in the UMEBA playoffs, and we have youngsters who are champions at AAA chomping at the bit to taste the big leagues. What more could a GM want?"

I'm gonna take credit for everything that happened in Libya and its minor leagues this season even though it was an entirely different(mostly) organization from the one I had in 2043! Just saying
Montreal Blazers(BBA) 2044~2047(353-295, .545 W%)
2045 Wildcard(lost in one round)
