Light wind - 2059.6 - Hit me baby (29.1% of the time)

Seventeen wins out of a possible thirty-two is above average. Groundbreaking reporting I am aware, but it means a lot more to this ball club. Mainly because of what is a rotation really struggling, 8th best in the GBC in terms of ERA and changes are definitely on the horizon with Kevin Davis in particular having a 6.61 ERA through 7 starts and plenty of options in the bullpen to step in. How is this team above average then? Well the third-best bullpen helps but only helps drag the staff to the 6th best. The defense is right up there too, 4th best defensive efficiency and 3rd best zone rating is not to be ignored. However, we all know this team has some bats. Well, that might be an understatement...

The star is GBC veteran Quinn Greene at DH. He's in his 13th year in the GBC, and has not had 1.000+ OPS once. I hardly need to say more. Injury worries held him from finding a home in the GBC or BBA this past offseason, added to his mediocre defense and weaknesses against lefties. His line of .346/.417/.677 probably has led many to wish they'd taken a gamble on him though. Add 11 home runs, 16 walks and 7 stolen bases; it's easy to see how he scooped up April's batter of the month.

It's not just the reliable Greene though who's firing. Three other everyday players have an OPS over .900. The best of the rest thus far is former BBA player Matt Garrison in the second year of his $20 million contract. He's started the year .355/.425/.636 and minus some power, is a player similar to Greene: average corner defense, weaker against lefties but has no real injury concerns which allows him to play in left every day. In the other corner, and 9 years younger, is Isacco Aglietti. A different player to the power bats mentioned previously, Aglietti is well-rounded. 11% strikeout rate, 3 ZR in left combined with 20 extra base hits including 6 home runs led to a .341/.341/.583 line (yes he's only had 1 BB in 135 PAs). The other red hot bat is found at the hot corner. Felix Ladaga is very much a more traditional Williamson power bat combined with great defense at third. .309/.369/.606 with 8 HRs is a great start for an off-season pick up on league minimum, and he is not expected to slow down.

Overall, the Brisas rank first in AVG, OBP, OPS, SLG, WAR, and wOBA. Second in hits and third in extra-base hits and home runs. Interestingly they rank sixth in runs, a league-leading (by over 10) GIDPs does NOT help, but that shows this team will only score more runs in the coming weeks. So I look forward to speaking to you after the Brisas are shut out three consecutive times...

Good article but man I just cringe when I see the name Quinn Greene. How did this happen? It's like someone let Hank Aaron in our Tee ball league
