Coming into May, Kuwait City is hoping 2042 Alhafr MVP, Drew Hair, returns to his previous form. The all-star first baseman managed to bat just .181 with 2 homers in April, despite batting in the 3 hole between stars Virgil Shafer and Weaver Ripley. If Hair see a resurgence, the Alhafr will have that three-headed monster in the middle of the lineup like they envisioned. Shafer and Ripley have played to expectations, both slugging 11 homers this season. Hopefully all cylinders fire at the same time for the majority of 2043 and Kuwait City will continue to be trouble for the rest of the BURT.
One thing the Alhafr lacked in 2042 was depth, but GM, Chad Nason, has stocked up reinforcements in the minors. The increased pitching depth has lowered the team’s ERA by almost two runs since last season. Now that Nason has seen a month of performances, some of those reinforcements may be called into action to replace struggling starters. RF Frank Underwood, has been struggling to get his feet under him after a strong finish to 2042. A month into the season and it seems as his luck may have run out.
There is still a lot of season to play and Kuwait City only sits 3 games back from a playoff spot. Nason’s motor will certainly not keep things quiet in the front office, so many more tweaks are expected to put this squad in top performance mode. Until then, Kuwait City will have a tough week in front of them that will be crucial to their success, hosting Baghdad Kings before traveling to Jerusalem for a 4 game set with the Hebrew Hammers.
