The first order of business this off-season and every off-season is arbitration. Portland faced arbitration on 9 players that included big names like Murali Patachli and Mynolri Gaajlimitz who faced their first arbitration decision year as well as Greg Squires who was in the midst of his second season of arbitration. These are the three most notable guys as they combined for 11.0 WAR a season ago. Here is a complete breakdown as to how arbitration went for the Lumberjacks.
Player | 2061 WAR | Previous Salary | Arbitration Estimate | Team Offered | 2062 Salary |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bill Beals | 1.5 WAR | $500,000 | $1,500,000 | $1,500,000 | $1,700,000 |
Murali Patachli | 3.6 WAR | $500,000 | $3,164,000 | $2,266,600 | $2,900,000 |
Erasmo Gonzalez | -1.1 WAR | $500,000 | $850,000 | $850,000 | $850,000 |
Kent Grange | 0.7 WAR | $1,306,500 | $1,708,500 | $1,708,500 | $1,900,000 |
Edward Roundfield IV | 0.0 WAR | $1,552,600 | $2,448,000 | $2,448,000 | $2,400,000 |
Geoffrey Dodson | -0.6 WAR | $2,233,000 | $3,030,000 | $2,500,000 | $3,000,000 |
Matt Pruitt | 0.4 WAR | $500,000 | $950,000 | $950,000 | $950,000 |
Greg Squires | 4.3 WAR | $2,800,800 | $4,872,000 | $4,669,000 | $5,300,000 |
Mynorli Gaajlimitz | 3.1 WAR | $500,000 | $3,774,000 | $3,100,000 | $3,500,000 |
I think the most disappointing one was Dodson who was a negative WAR guy last year but got nearly a $1,000,000 pay increase for next season. On the flip side, we're happy that Patachli's salary is under $3,000,000 considering he was the runner-up in Nebraska voting last season.
