With a full 20 seasons now under their belt, the Portland Lumberjacks felt (with urging from Vancouver in a chat post :vomit:) it was time to announce it's all-time team. The Lumberjacks, despite having just 20 seasons complete, have managed a pretty solid history that has seen the organization play in 3 Brewster Series, winning 1, and competing in 6 post-seasons to date. So finding players worth of an all-time team to this point wasn't that difficult.
Here is who was honored:
Offense
C: Allan Uecker (2057-Present) - Despite just having 3 years under his belt, the 25 year old has 11.6 WAR which is good enough for 5th all-time in team history.
1B: Ernest McBride (2048-2051)- McBride has the single season (7.1) and franchise record (21.5) WAR.
2B: Rich Dares (2059-Present) - In just 2 years with the team, he's produced the 9th most WAR. Easy choice!
3B: Alex Ramirez (2048-2050) - Gotta go back to that blockbuster trade with Vancouver to recall the great run Ramirez had from 2048-2050 in Portland. He's 6th all-time in franchise WAR among hitters.
SS: Sammy McNeill (2059-Present) - A lot of owners questioned Portland's decision to sign McNeill to the deal we did prior to the 2059 season. It's paid off. He's 7th all-time in WAR.
LF: Jiao-long Ma (2049-2055) - Recalling Recte yelling "Ma, Where's the Meat loaf" during our earlier Brewster runs is enough. But his 20.2 WAR is 2nd in franchise history.
CF: Pedro Rosales (2056-2058) - Close your eyes when looking at his defensive numbers. But offensively he's hanging on to the 10th highest offensive WAR in our team's history at the moment.
RF: Jeffrey Smith (2048-2051) - Another product of the blockbuster trade with Vancouver. His 6.1 WAR in 2050 ranked as the 2nd best of his career, a HOF career.
DH: Mynorli Gaajlimitz (2059-Present) - And he's only 20!
Pitching
SP1: Alaric Wullenweber (2059-present) - The only Nebraska Award winner in team history.
SP2: Ken Sparks (2047-2057) - The franchise's career leader in WAR and Wins
SP3: Chris Thompson (2047-2055) - Ranks 3rd in franchise WAR and 4th in all-time wins. Was really good when on!
SP4: Steve Warren (2046-2055) - 2nd in franchise WAR and Wins.
SP5: Felix Vidaca (2048-2054) - Hard to pick the final guy. But he is 4th in the franchise's history in WAR.
Reliever: Lorenzo de' Medici (2046-2051) - I can't have a team without mentioning the franchise's first team HOF inductee. He should be a BBA Hall of Famer! Won 2 Egan Awards while in Portland.
Honorable Mentions:
Gusby Pinkerton (2044) - Had one hell of a rookie season in Portland.
Murali Patachli (2059-Present) He'll likely make it on the 25th anniversary team.
Faical Engeitado (2041-2047)- Is the single season leader in triples with 13 and is 7th in games pitched. That deserves some sort of a mention, right?
Carlomaria Donadoni (2052-2053) - Many forget that before he went on a tear in Calgary, he played 2 seasons in Portland.
Jon Mick (2040-2042) - An OG in Portland. His 100 homeruns in Portland are still 7th all-time in franchise history.
