Hold My Log - 55.13 - Win Some, Lose Some

Well had you taken Portland to win 6 consecutive games after an opening day loss on some betting board, you'd likely have won some serious cash. After a 4-1 start to the season, Portland tallied 2 more wins on the ledger and started the season 6-1 thanks to a 6 game winning streak over Hawaii, Louisville, and Twin Cities. The Louisville wins included a 4 games sweep of the Sluggers that saw Portland win the series by a total score of 26-10. But just when you thought the Lumberjacks were the next league juggernaut, reality set in. Portland promptly dropped 4 straight contests to Twin Cities and San Fernando (combined score of 10-26) and suddenly the world was back on even kilter. The team did close out the last sim with an 8-7 win over San Fernando as the club clings to a 7-5 record after two weeks and sit tied atop the Pacific division standings.

Ricardo Yanez
Yanez tallied 11 hits in the last 7 games played by Portland over the course of 28 at-bats. In 4 of those games, he had multiple hits highlighted by a pair of 3 hit games against San Fernando and Twin Cities. He hit one homerun, drove in 6, and scored 4 runs in the last sim. He currently leads the team with a 0.6 WAR.

Chris Thompson
Thompson made a pair of starts last sim, going 1-0. Against Louisville on 4/7, he went 5 scoreless innings, scattering 4 hits with a pair of walks and 3 strikeouts. He picked up the win. Five days later he went 5.1 scoreless innings against San Fernando, scattering 4 hits this time and walking 3 with 5 strikeouts. Unfortunately the Portland bullpen surrendered 5 runs in the 9th inning to squander Thompson's second win of the sim.

Bum of the Sim
Orlando Vega
It was Vega who allowed 4 of those 5 runs in the loss to the Bears. He recorded just 1 out while walking a batter and surrendering 3 hits. Needless to say the nail in the coffin was a walk-off grand slam.
