We Got Wood - 42.36 - Bouncing Back

Post by 7teen » Sat Apr 25, 2020 1:43 pm

The morale was pretty low in Portland following an 0-6 sim and losing 10 straight. But the boys bounced back this sim to go 4-3 against divisional rivals to at least salvage a double digit win month. However after a .500 start to the season in April, May and June have been less than kind to the Lumberjacks who are a combined 19-34 over the last two months with one game still remaining in June.

Scores
4-0 WIN vs Hawaii
5-2 WIN vs Hawaii
11-6 LOSS vs Hawaii
6-5 LOSS vs California
9-1 LOSS vs California
8-7 WIN vs California; 10 inning walk-off
10-6 WIN vs Hawaii

Wow, lots of comments to be made over those 7 games.
- First off, what is that number Hawaii scored in game 1 of the sim? We don't see that a lot for the other team in Portland.
- We trailed 5-0 in the 6-5 loss to California only to battle back and tie it at 5-5 only to have the Crusaders score in the top of the 9th to win it.
- We trailed 7-2 going to the 9th inning in the 10-inning win. We scored 5 in the 9th and then again in the 10th to win. We had a triple and a pair of doubles in the 9th and then a 1-out double in the 10th to win it.
- We were shut out in 8 of the 9 innings we hit in the 10-6 win over Hawaii in the finale. Yeah, you do the math there!

Pitcher of the Sim

Vincente Venalde
Our closer made four appearances that sim and tossed 4 scoreless innings. They weren't clean innings, as he allowed a hit in each appearance and also walked a batter in one game but he did strike out 6 guys over the 4 innings of work and picked up a pair of saves and a win in the process. He's now a solid 5-2 on the season with a 2.43 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 16 saves on the season.

Hitter of the Sim

Juan Mendoza
The first hitter of the sim award for the greatly overpaid one! Mendoza has struggled most of the season, but did manage to hit .400/.429/.600 this sim with a homerun and 7 RBI. The 7 RBI this sim surpassed his entire April output and nearly matched his whole month of May. June has been by far his best month as he's finally pushed his WAR into the positive thanks to 4 homeruns, 19 RBI, and an .811 OPS in June. He's still grossly overpaid!

Sorry Sack of Shit of the Sim

Ernie Kinney
Ernie informed the team this sim that he's unhappy playing in Portland because we aren't winning. When informed he's a reason we aren't winning, he was even less happy. The truth hurts, Ernie! Perhaps try doing better. Your one appearance this sim in which you allowed 3 runs on 1 hit while walking 5 guys isn't going to cut it. If you're really angry at us, you'll decline that player option for 2043 and disappear from our existence.

I definitely, absolutely, need a Sorry Sack of Shit of the Sim award for my team. But there would be too many nominations!
