In case the team's 19-8 record in April wasn't already an indicator, the individual accolades showed that the Lumberjacks has a pretty successful start to the 2059 campaign. As mentioned, Murali Putachli claimed the top rookie honors with his efforts in April. And now it's been announced that Alaric Wullenweber has claimed this month's top starting pitcher honor for the performances turned in this month.
"There's a reason he's a future first ballot hall of famer" commented manager Mons Raider on Wullenweber's award. "Watching him pitch every 5th game is like watching an artist paint a picture. That's what Wullenweber is. He's an artist out there on the mound. I'd be interested in knowing how many of these monthly awards he's accumulated over his time."
"It's a lot" laughed Wullenweber. "But this one means something. I think a lot of people were writing me off. I know I'm on the downside of my career and I wasn't my old self last year. And who knows, this season may catch up with me here soon. But right now, I'm feeling great. We're winning games. Let's enjoy the ride" he concluded with a smile towards Sandy.
In April, Alaric made 6 starts, pitching a team high 43.2 innings in April. He was 5-0 over those 6 starts, posting a team best 1.44 ERA and striking out a team high 33 batters. His 1.10 WHIP was 2nd behind Murali's mark but his 1.3 WAR for April was a team high.
"He's 6 for 6 in quality starts" concluded Raider. "I mean it's so comforting to know you're sending a guy to the mound and you have extreme confidence that your team is going to win that day. It makes my job so much easier."

Wullenweber is expected to make his next start Monday night versus Bikini where fans are flocking to buy tickets. Alaric is 7 strikeouts shy of reaching the 4,000 mark for his career!
