2063.12 Flyers Make Some Trades

Post by Krathan » Thu Jun 19, 2025 2:50 pm

The Flyers have decided to shake things up as they attempt to defend their Atlantic Division Title from last season.

Rumors were circulating that Charlotte was looking to add a top flight pitcher to their rotation after recent struggles. They achieved that goal by sending 5 players and $4 million to division rivals Cobble Hill for Larry Jensen. Jensen is a young, controllable pitcher who has been at the front of the Robins rotation since debuting last year. He will join Bob Anderson, Buwono Mainaky, Arturo Trevino, and Logan Hill in the revamped Flyers rotation, creating a formidable group. Jensen's addition to the starting core makes a potential postseason rotation much more imposing for opponents as well. So far this year in Cobble Hill, Jensen is 5-8 with a 4.20 ERA and a 92 FIP-.

In order to get an exciting young player like Jensen, Charlotte had to part ways with a number of quality players and prospects. Two players with big league experience are headed to Cobble Hill.

One is lefty reliever Jose Gonzalez, who pitched well in 12 second half games last year and was also a solid contributor in the postseason. Gonzalez struggled to open this season but should be someone who can help Cobble Hill for the next few years.

The other big league player headed to the Robins in this deal is 2-way pitcher/outfielder Ignacio Lewis. Lewis got off to a fantastic start on the mound last year but faded some down the stretch. He finished the year 13-8 with a 4.17 ERA. So far this season, Lewis is 4-4 with a 5.50 ERA. He hasn't been good at the plate but his solid OF defense and great speed on the basepaths make him a versatile player who should help the Robins this year and in the coming years.

The three minor leaguers headed to Cobble Hill are top prospect Kutsi Abas, promising OF Daniel Byram, and International Complex OF Carlos Ramirez.

Charlotte also made a trade with the Charm City Jimmies. Lewis had been playing the part of backup CF so far this year but now that he is headed to the Robins, a new backup for Jose Bedreddin was needed. The Flyers have acquired Dennis Armitage in exchange for 2 young pitchers and cash.

Armitage is under contract through the 2064 season at just over $3 million. He is an outstanding defensive OF and can also fill in as an infielder from time to time if needed. His versatility and blazing speed on the basepaths will fit nicely into the Charlotte roster.

Heading to Charm City are Gurusarana Chiba and Saghir bin Fouad. The organization is sure to miss bin Fouad's nickname, "Ol Big Head."
