2063.4 Charlotte Signs Two

The Charlotte Flyers have made two signings of note since the beginning of the off-season.

On Monday, November 20, Charlotte reached an agreement with Lawrence Stewart on a 3 year contract extension. Stewart had already agreed to a 1 year deal covering the 2063 season, and avoiding salary arbitration. The 29 year old catcher will make $3.5 million in 2063. The new extension will pay Stewart $5 million in 2064 and $5.5 million in and 2065. There is also a $5.5 million team option for 2066, with a $1.1 million buyout attached.

Stewart won the Gillstrom Rookie of the Year Award and was named an All-Star in 2059. From 2059 through 2062, Stewaart has played 518 games for the Flyers, posting 15 WAR. He has slashed .295/.337/.421 with a wRC+ of 105 in that time. He has averaged 38 doubles and over 56 RBI per season.

On December 1, the Flyers came to terms with veteran left handed pitcher Logan Hill. He will make $10.1 million in 2063, $9 million in 2064, $7 million in 2065, and there are two $7 million team options for 2066 and 2067, each with a $1.4 million buyout. The southpaw is coming off of a year in which he went 11-6 with a 4.17 ERA and a 99 FIP- for cross-state rivals, the Swamp Foxes. He has twice been an All-Star (2055 and 2056) and has posted 20.7 career WAR with a career FIP- of 99. He should provide quality innings in the middle to back end of the rotation as the club watches their young pitching prospects develop.
