Robert Menzies grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and was originally taken by the Edmonton Jackrabbits in round 2 of the 2039 draft. By 2041, he was playing in the BBA, and earned a championship ring with the Jackrabbits that year.

After playing in Edmonton for two season, he was traded to Portland, where he was named to his first All-Star team and won his first Charles Puckett Golden Bat Award at SS in 2043.

After two seasons in Portland, Menzies was traded to Charlotte where he spent the next 17 years. Menzies earned 9 more All-Star appointments and 7 more Golden Bats with Charlotte. He helped the team reach the playoffs 8 times during his run with the team, reaching the Monty Brewster Memorial Series in 2060.

Menzies is the franchise leader in games played, at bats, hits, singles, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, runs scored, walks, stolen bases, and WAR. His name appears many times on the top ten of most single season offensive leaderboards. Menzies is one of the most popular players to have ever played for Charlotte. His number 17 was retired, and he was named the first ever inductee into the Charlotte Hall of Fame on the final day of the 2061 season.
