The São Paulo Pilots announced today that Ryan "Rye" Cometa has been named General Manager. Ryan will oversee operations and report to the owner and chairman. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Ryan may be a surprise pick to many to take over, but he brings a sharp mind and I have my trusted faith in Rye to continue to grow this great franchise into championship contenders,” said Pilots Owner Abdul-Hadi Masruq. “He has been a welcoming face in the clubhouse since first meeting the team and shares our commitment to developing and sustaining a winning culture. I am excited to welcome him back to São Paulo. We would like to thank our former GM Tyler Fioritto for his service to this organization and will recognize him as a Pilot for life.”
“It's such an honor to be a part of such an amazing franchise, and although the past few years may have been disappointing for some Pilots fans, the community continues to grow," states GM Cometa. "It has been amazing to see how much baseball has grown here in Brazil, and I hope to continue to help its growth here, hopefully being in conversations as much as football in sports pages and daily conversations."
When asked about his thoughts on the future of the roster with the coming season, Cometa answered, "Well, we'll see. There are a few weak spots we have identified and hope to bolster this coming year, and we'll take a look at our prospects during Spring Training and finalize our direction. I know Hashimoto has played a big part of this franchise and I will do our part to get him the championship he and other Pilots fans deserve."

Sad to hear the previous GM left on a good note. Always assumed @tylerfioritto wiyld have been fired for trading ten used paper clips for brand new thumb tack.
