The Sao Paulo Pilots announced today that assistant GM Shosuke Sato signed a two year extension to remain with the Pilots. The team had announced earlier this month that GM Terry Kift would be looking at the entire team staff since the team has had what would be considered a bad year and it was not certain who would be remaining. This could be the first of many dismissals before the year is out.
Though the Pilots played average ball after Kift took over the GM spot, the team has been playing woeful baseball and is struggling to remain out the cellar and above the Sydney Sharks. The Pilots are 8-15 since the all-star game and 3-7 in the last 10.
Rumors are swirling about whether or not the Pilots will keep strikeout leader Owen Geddes, making $12 million this year, or saves leader Ivan Ruiz who pulls in $7 million.
"We have to look at the effects their salaries have on the cap and whether or not we want to let them go and spread the money we get back on several players from free agency to fill in the weak areas of the club. We think Hashimoto will be gone at the end of the year and will have to compete with other clubs in free agency if we want him back.
Many think that Ruiz has a better chance of staying with the club because of his age and the fact that Geddes is 5-10 so far this year.

Geddes and Ruiz could be nice adds to a team in the BBA. Both could get some cash in FA.
