2061 Shark Bites TN No. 4 - History again

I had finally gotten the office straightened up.

I was poking around the building when I noticed a box in the corner of a supply closet. It looked old, had a thin coat of dust over the top. There was a faded packaging stamp that I could just barely make out. It appeared to be from Mumbai.

"Hey, do you know what this is?" I called out to my assistant general manager.

Silence.

"Oh, right. I don't have an assistant general manager."

I opened the box. There at the bottom was a landline telephone. I hadn't seen one in ages. With gentle care, I lifted the phone and brought it to my office. I hooked it up and was met with a very annoying sound followed by a robotic lady voice.

You.. have... 647 missed calls

"Well, shit."

There was a recent call. It was from Johannesburg.

I like Illingworth. What do you want for him?

A trade? In the GBC? I picked up the phone quickly and dialed the number back.

Hello?

I was so nervous my mouth moved but my brain didn't. "Odysseus Karahalios." Shit. That's not even a real name. I was so anxious about trading I just babbled nonsense. I felt like a fool.

Deal.

... "Huh?.. Uh, I mean yeah cool. Deal, awesome. Bye."

I hung up the phone as quickly as I had picked it up. We made a trade. When was the last time we made a trade? I took to Google and learned three things.

One: The team was moved to Sydney following the 2050 season to distract people from the fact the Great Barrier Reef got zapped off the planet by the sun.
Two: People still noticed.
Three: We have never executed a trade before. The last came in 2047 while the franchise was still in Mumbai.

Less than three months on the job and the Sharks continue to make organizational history (please ignore 34-40 record).
