59.04 Walkoff in London

Post by handaspencer » Wed May 15, 2024 3:09 pm

In what has been a rather slow start in London there was some fireworks to celebrate on Saturday in London. After losing the first 2 games in the 3 game set with the expansion squad in Moscow the Monarchs was able to escape the sweep in walk off style. Despite a great start from the Moscow SP Ricardo Quadrado who went 7 innings with 7 k's and only 2 BB only allowed 1 London player to cross the plate. When he left the game he was in clear control with a 3-1 lead and just needed his bullpen to finish it off for him. Finish it off is exactly what did not happen.

Su-Yeong Pak entered the game and with 2 outs gave up groundball single and then Brad Parkinson made him pay with a 369 ft HR to tie the ball game. Despite blowing the lead in the 8th pak entered the game again to pitch the 9th and that was a terrible mistake. On a 1-2 pitch Patrick Faber crushed a ball with a 106 MPH exit velocity and just missed going over the fence and safely put him at second with a standup double. Dian Sarticka quickly put the nail in the coffin and finished him off with a line drive single to bring in the winning run.

Sartika said this kind of win gives our team "a buzz" Although London dropped the very next game the hope is some momentum can be gained from this dramatic win. We believe we are close to breaking through we just need more wins like this GM Spencer said. Hopefully this can get Sartika going as he has struggled offensively out of the gate.
