With the first week of a month-long road trip down, Baghdad finds itself in a less than favorable position. Going 2 and 5 through the first 2 1/3 series was not on GM Mr. Herren's mind. "I guess we've got some work to do but it's not panic time yet. Everyone just has to remember that many of these guys are brand new here and only had Spring Training to get to know each other. I'm thinking that, hopefully, this week was just a fluke and that we'll come together like a well-oiled machine." Only time will.
Despite getting swept by Cairo the first series, The Kings came back and won the Istanbul (not Constantinople) Series 2-1, then dropped the first game against Manama. The Kings, despite the Win/Loss record, are doing better than it seems. The team, as a whole, have a BA of .253 with 4 HR. They've had 63 base hits, 14 of them for extras, and are leading the league in SB with 10.
As far as individuals, 3B Rick Terry is leading the team with 10 Total Bases and CF Sheldon Cooper is the speedy one with 6 Base on Balls. Pitching-wise, SP Lorenzo Bueno leads with a 1.17 ERA and SP Ramon Suarez leads with 8.3 K/9.
Mr. Herren's final thoughts? "There's nowhere to go but up from here!"
