Mexico City: The Mexico City Aztecs have re-signed future Aztec Ring of Honor inductee and potential Hall of Famer Dave "Burner" Corfield

While he may no longer live up to the nickname Burner after losing velocity, Corfield believes he still has a little gas left in the tank. Corfield will be entering his 19th season with the Aztecs.

After going 7-14 last season with a 4.48 ERA, Corfield looks to bounce back this year. He remains at the top of the league when it comes to games started and Innings pitched, categories he led in 2061 & 2062.

"Dave will always be an Aztec" said GM Brandon Tucker. "Dave Corfield will always have a place in this organization, even after his playing days are over."

Corfield has compiled a 260-151 mark during his career and a 3.47 ERA with 3,352 strikeouts and a 91.1 Career WAR

Love seeing Corfield's career. Amazing consistency and all with one team. Job well done by the Aztecs. $175M well spent!

Great job. I know in a lot of ways it doesn't make sense to bring back a 39 year old pitcher with diminishing skills. But Corfield is a Mexico City legend. Much respect for keeping him.

I feel like there should be some kind of reward for this behavior. Like if a player spends 10 BBA service years with only one franchise, the team gets a bonus of say $5 million or 50 PP, then escalate it at 15 and 20 years. I'm not going to put it in the suggestion bin because it's something that requires more work. But if the GB wants to talk about it in private, that's on them.

I’d support a PPT reward.

Love that he stayed in Mexico City. I’d be open to considering an additional boost to coach ratings if a player converted is with a team for 12+ years.

Probably a better, more nuanced recommendation, Chad.
