For the third consecutive season and the 7th time in franchise history, the Portland Lumberjacks are heading to the post-season. After a 91 win season, the Lumberjacks have claimed the top Wild-Card spot in the Frick League and will host divisional foe Long Beach in the opening Geoghegan Series round.

"We're glad to be returning" said manager Mons Raider after the team concluded it's regular season with a 4-game sweep of Vancouver this week. "It's a whole new season now. You throw everything that has happened up to this point out the window. It's a best of 5 this week against the Surfers" concluded the 5 year manager who has taken the Lumberjacks from a last place finish in 2058 to a Brewster title and 3 straight post-season trips since.

"It's what you want as an organization" said assistant GM Sandy Mounds who has done nothing but lead this team to winning ways in her 3 year tenure with the club. "You make the post-season and you have a chance at the title. You make the post-season and you generate revenue. You generate revenue and it allows you to keep good players and keep the trend going. This is year 3. We want to talk about next year being the 4th consecutive then the 5th and so on. We also want to see another Brewster in the trophy case."

It's the second time in franchise history the club has made it to the post-season 3 consecutive times. The team went on a run from 2049-2052 in which they made the post-season 4 consecutive times. During that earlier run, the team competed in a pair of Brewster Series, losing out on both.

It will be the first time in the Franchise's history it will compete against Long Beach in the post-season. The team's split their 14 games this season, going 7-7.

"It's going to be a fun series" said Portland captain Sammy McNeill. "It's why you play the game, for series like these."

The Lumberjacks were bounced in the Geoghegan Series a season ago in the deciding 5th game against Des Moines. Many expect the Lumberjacks to be swept in 3 this season by the Surfers, despite Portland having home field advantage. :coffee:
