61.05 Montreal Signs CF Victor Frazier

Post by Bob Breum » Sun Oct 20, 2024 3:11 pm

Montreal has struggled for years to get production from center field. Playing in Ubisoft with its deep outfield dimensions requires a defender with good range. Fulfilling this condition with a player who can also hit well in the pitcher friendly park has stymied the Blazers for many seasons.

Last season, António Hernández established himself as a solid platoon option, hitting .310/.349/.479 against left-handed pitching. The Blazers have been looking for a platoon partner for Hernandez and they think they may have found one with the signing of the left-hand-hitting Victor Frazier.

Only 26, Frazier already has five years of big league experience with Chicago. He has a career line of .247/.302/.406 (86 OPS+) against right-handed pitching. He has elite baserunning and base stealing instincts. Montreal likes his speed and is expected to give him the green light anytime that he reaches base.

Looks like a huge overpay on paper, but with the availability of legitimate CF's, it might be a steal.

I was hoping to sign him for like a million and stash him in AAA. You can never have too many true CF'ers.
