Club officials were disappointed but unsurprised today when it was confirmed that longtime Blazers starting pitcher Boris Milatovic had been claimed by the Madison Wolves.
Boris Milatovic
Milatovic was 1-7 with a 7.05 ERA as the fifth starter in the Montreal rotation this season. His inflated ERA is largely the result of the team's requirement that he travel with the team and pitch in other parks besides pitcher friendly Ubisoft Field. At home, he managed an ERA of 5.04 over four starts; while not great, it is not embarrassingly bad. On the road, Milatovic pitched to a 9.61 ERA in his four starts.
The team had asked Milatovic to accept a demotion to their AAA club, the New Jersey Devils, where they hoped that he could work to regain his 2055 form. Milatovic stridently refused to even consider it, his voice carrying throughout the clubhouse from the manager's office. If there was any indecision on the part of the front office, this episode reinforced their decision to part ways with Milatovic. Publicly, they thanked him for his years of service to the ballclub, but privately they were happy to see him go.
