Valencia Stars:42-34 (.553) #4 rookie call ups

The Stars hitting is really coming around especially the power numbers, and the pen is doing very good this season with a 3.50 ERA which is 2nd best in the FL. Starting pitching has got better but the Stars the last few weeks now brought up there two top pitching prospects.

21 year old SP/MR Jorge García will finally get his shot at the bigs. García throws from the right side, was drafted in 2035 with the 6th pick in round one. García has 4 solid pitches, his fastball is his best with a very forkball, changeup and then an average slider..His minor league stats were just average but the Stars wanted more depth and García who can both relief and start gives the Stars more options if a starter struggles. Last week when SP Niall Hanlon was still having issues starting games, 2-8, 5.47 ERA, García got the call to start last week and did pretty good. García got his first start vs EDMONTON and picked up his first major league win, 7 innings 7 hits 7 K's, :D and allowed only one walk...García earned himself another start this week...In the mean time Hanlon from the pen pitched 2 innings 1 ER and 3 K's...

This week the Stars decided to send down struggling RP Simón Bautista to hopefully get back to form. Bautista this season has a 4.74 ERA, in his 38 innings he has 50 K's but they really wanted to see what top pitching prospect Pepe Hernández. Hernández was drafted in the first round in 2036 with the 6th overall pick... Hernández throws from the left side, has 3 very good pitches, cutter, splitter and changeup. Like García his minor league numbers were just average, but like Garcia, Hernández can pitch from the pen and start too. The Stars now have 7 starters on the team which gives them so much extra depth in the rotation and they all can pitch well out of the pen...
