TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
Mike Bieschke has decided to step away from the BBA for a bit- there's a lot going on for him IRL right now and I can respect that. He is going to stay on in the UMEBA (team yet to be determined) and we hope he'll be able to rejoin us in the BBA at some point in the future.
With that it's time to open up Hawaii to all of our UMEBA members. Please post here if you want to throw your name in the hat for this opening and instructions for the selection process will follow from Lane.
Hope to have this complete relatively quickly- definitely before the end of the Landis so the new GM can properly prepare for the offseason.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
Life definitely comes first and hopefully Mike can return to the BBA once everything gets settled.
I would like to throw my name in the hat to be the GM of the Hawaii Tropics.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
I was hoping to see Mike turn it around in Hawaii. He built up a pretty good system and was doing all the right things during the down years. Usually when a spot opens it's because the owner did things that even they didn't want to deal with anymore. So this should be an ideal situation for a new owner to come in and immediately put their own stamp on things without having to tear everything down.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
I felt like I came into Twin Cities in a similar situation. The base was there to build. I did a Team Preview for the Tropics a couple of years ago and said this. There's some good young players there and the team may be ready to compete in a couple of seasons.ae37jr wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:03 amI was hoping to see Mike turn it around in Hawaii. Hope Mike gets his life stuff straightened out.

Mike can have Beirut if I can have Charlie Iron-Knife...
In all seriousness, I'll cede my Umeba office to Mike if he wants it.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
Might not be necessary yet as whoever comes to UMEBA for this opening will create an opening.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
Best of luck to Mike, I know what it's like to have things build up on you. I have had to step away a few times (you may have noticed) till I sort my life out so I hope Mike can do it. One thing I can say from experience is that no matter how long you are away from the BBA you will find that day when the siren voice of the league comes over the wind towards you. Suddenley you find yourself writing that email ... "Hi Matt

hope mike can get things sorted.
Spoiler alert to anyone interested in Hawaii. There are a few Pacific Division GMs who think this team is ready to add 20+ wins to its total starting next season if handled properly...

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
I don’t have the time right now to take on a BBA team either. Running the Balauri is enough of a challenge. Hopefully Mike can get back on track.

Re: TEAM OPENING: Hawaii Tropics
Thanks guys. Not going to lie, I’m absolutely gutted that I can’t put the time in right now to see the rebuild through. I hope I’ve left them on the edge of a return for someone. No doubt I’ll be rooting from afar, as 24 seasons with a team causes a bit of fandom. I’ll be back no doubt, after life gets back on track. It’s been an honor to be a part of the best league with the best commish, and the best GM’s.

I never thought I'd be able to see the Tropics logo without contorting with pain as thoughts of Hoot ran through my brain. You successfully cleansed that franchise, imo. It'll now be weird seeing some other than you next to the logo.nerfHerder wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 8:24 pmThanks guys.
