2033.10 - Ousted

Four games. Two blown saves. Exit stage left.

After leading the JLA for much of the season, the wheels fell off toward the end. The division was lost. But the team still had a chance to get back to the Landis. But as we all know, cars don't usually drive too well if they're missing a wheel or two. And the Jimmies didn't have enough spare tires to help the trip continue.

The GM could only look on in disbelief. His All-Star closer just blew his second game of the series. His All-Star closer just blew the game that sent the Jimmies home. The locker room was in the same disbelief. Wilmot Schlondorff at his locker long after much of the team had left to get back him.

"It's on me," said Schlondorff. "It's on me."

It's not that simple. Sure, winning one of those 2 games would of at least gave them a shot at a game 5. But the offense went limp. Just as it had been since Alfredo Salazar went down for the year. 12 runs in 4 games isn't getting it done. An absolute gem by Egbert Behner in game 1, wasted. In game 4, he pitched well enough to get the team a win.

To be honest, I'm not sure what else to add. The GM declined comment as he was not too happy. Nobody on the Jimmies were. Can you blame them? This is a team who represented the Johnson in the Landis last year. They made trades to bolster there rotation only for them to go down for season ending injuries. Sure, Carlton Winson worked out. But this team still needs to figure out it's rotation and find a way to get some more offense. It's underachieved despite having some big bats. What may be more troubling is the lack of prospects to help supplement these guys. Brandon Slouck will be on the hunt again this offseason. He'll have to get creative to keep the window open another year.
