Moonshiners are busted.

After a troubled year full of key injuries, that led to a disappointing last place finish in the Atlantic division of the JL, the Moonshiners find themselves in a dire situation and a change in leadership.

New GM, Gates Elliott, takes on a team with a nearly maxed out budget full of aging players, and the consensus worst farm system in the game today, totally bereft of talent. It's a high mountain to climb. But as a determined Elliott said in his initial press conference, "If there's something the Greenville Moonshiners understand well, it's mountains and being high."

One would expect the trading block to be full of potential championship pieces for contending teams. Guys like SP Esteben Benitez, SP Angel Ramirez, and C Maxwell Weiss, Jr will be available to teams looking to add a big punch for the stretch run. And Elliott has made it known that even younger studs like SP Domingo Hernandez and CL Ernie von Schledorn III are not safe from possible dealings.

In the meantime, the Moonshiners do have a solid rotation, especially with the addition of free agent signee Manuel Guerra. And combined with a few still potent bats and a strong closer, there's still a chance for a run if the breaks go the right way. Elliott put his views on the upcoming season thusly, "The Moonshiners have come to the proverbial fork in the road, on the one hand lies a run at the division, on the other a massive bonfire. There won't be a middle ground."
