The Blotter 1995.1

Mounties start predictably

Well, it's not surprising to see the Vancouver Mounties begin yet another season at .500 - mediocrity is our calling card, and since it's 1995, people still use calling cards, so the reference isn't completely out of date.

From the first sim, there are a few things to be excited about from our standpoint, namely the outstanding performance of shortstop Tony Longmeier, long thought to be left for dead, hit .378 for four home runs and 10 RBI in the first 10 games.

Another pleasant surprise was the solid pitching of soft-tossing lefthander Allan Bartlett, who has pitched well in all three of his starts. His next victory will give him 100 for his career.

One thing we're hoping for this season is some development from our top infield prospects, Nick Mannerden and Doug Newhouse who are toiling at AA and AAA, respectively.

We have a gaping hole at third base, currently being filled by outfielder Sammy 'Hagar' Palos, who.. sucks.

Until next time.. we hope to break .500!

Lawnmeier was one of my favorites. Can't remember what motivated me to trade him to Vancouver.

The fact that I ignored he was lumpier than prison meatloaf but still gave you a king's ransom for him. Not one of my finer moments.

Your 2B is not a 2B. Your team zone rating is downright hideous.

I wish someone would explain these new fielding stats to me.

+ZR = good
-ZR = bad

I've yet to determine what "DEF" is.

He's only made two errors, but yeah, his range sucks and he can't fucking hit. There are many, many other reasons why my team is in the shit.
