Will Swanson start the All Star game as a rookie? That would count for something!

Anti-Barnstormer bias is, apparently, at an all time high!

come on, I voted for not one, but TWO Barnstormers this year! Just because not everyone one of your players is leading means that people are biased against you.

Latrobe is having a fine season as well, I would not say that he should not start the game. Just happy that Swanson is in the running.

Do I get to pick the starting pitcher? Because it appears that there's some disagreement. You both have players I would like on my team. If either of them happened to end up on my team in exchange for someone like, say, Vincent Adams, that might help your guy's chances of starting. Of course, if bribery doesn't work, I'm perfectly happy with a compromise candidate.

Well then, thank you for your contribution!

To follow up...

Martin is 2nd in RP WAR and Huggins in 5th - both are currently on the outside looking in (largely so in the latter's case).

Brown and Hoffman are 2nd and 3rd in SP WAR respectively - only 1 will likely get voted in (Kennedy is having a fine season and is doing his damndest to make my trade with CAL look asinine [while Ritchie works the reverse angle], but he must've blackmailed some of you for votes).

Yamaguchi has a very close WAR to Bunker at 3B and is even HIGHER than Witter (who got 2 votes) and I was the only one to give him a vote.

Even Weiss, Jr. (whom, admittedly, clearly shouldn't be leading Dunn) has probably been under-repped thus far.

I was mostly just being snarky for the fun of it, though... I'm just happy that Wakefield's injury didn't deter voters - it'd have been a travesty to leave him off the team (in name only, obviously) when there is a decent chance he finishes with a top 10 WAR in the JL for batters despite only playing half a season.

I think Hoffman's 6-6 (and Brown's 7-6) record hurts when people look at the stats. I know the importance of WAR, but sometimes it's hard not to select someone who has a better record, ERA, & WHIP. Not saying that would be me, but I could see where that plays a factor. I don't recall too many All-Star starting pitchers with a .500 record in real life. :)

And don't feel bad Kyle - Sam Brewington has the same WAR as Weiss & doesn't have a vote.

When voting for all-stars, probably moreso than awards, I vote on the traditional stats but use WAR and VORP some as well.

It's the ALL-STAR game. Give me a guy with a bunch of homers and RBI over a guy with 2 homers, 15 RBI, but a higher WAR. I know that sounds bad as someone who buys in some to the new stats, but it is what it is. Give me the reliever who leads the league in saves over one with a higher WAR. Give me the starter with more wins and Ks than the one with a .500 record but a better WAR.

Now when it comes to award voting, I factor in the WAR and VORP a lot more.

Unless a middle reliever's been out of his mind good, that's usually what I'll do.

I based my votes on OPS for hitters and wins and ERA for pitchers.

There is usually 1 or 2 MR that do deserve it and get my vote. Craig Murray from Chicago is an example. I voted him in the game.
