Valencia Star Report: 1999 25-19 (.568) # 4

Post by leejay56 » Tue Feb 15, 2011 8:45 am

After a slow start in April 11-14 the Stars have come out in May and playing like there old selves winning 10 in a roll and so far going 14-5..The Stars have moved to 3 games behind California ..Also with the win streak the Stars are now tied with Greenville for the wildcard slot...Of course there's allot of baseball left....The weak area for the Stars is the pen...So far the bullpen has a 5.38 era which is 11th overall..The starters era is 3.29 2nd overall, so hopefully the pen will come around...

STARS NEWS UPDATE:
SS Maddux Vaughn is on a tear early on this season... Vaughn is hitting .330 but has already hit 8 homers and drove in 24 runs... Vaughn usually averages 15 homers a season and his high is 18 homers back in 1992 when he was in Chicago....If he continues this pace he should top the 18 homerun mark this season....
1B Dave Reillyhas been hot the last 6 games...In the last 6 games Reilly has hit 429 with 3 homers...Overall this year Reilly .329 5 homers and has 13 rbis....Last season was Reilly first when he hit .247 17 52....
25 year old Starting Pitcher Keith Cabana is 3-1 with a 1.76 era over the last 5 games...Cabana who came into his own last season with a 15-7 2.60 record is having a good start here in 1999...Cabana is 5-3, 2.85 era and in 66 innings he has 59 k's.....

Vaughn Maddux sounds better.
But then again, that's me.

Looks like a good battle in the Pacific.
