Monarchs fall to Barnstormers

Heading into the Cartwright Cup Series the Monarchs knew they were in for a tough match up against Omaha. The Monarchs were looking to get into the Landis Cup series for the first time since 2005. With an injury to James Endres in the previous series the Monarchs penciled in former top prospect Ron Harmon to fill the void.

What went right?

The offence was good scoring 5.5 runs a game average. If you had told me that before the series we would have expected it to be good enough to win. Dale Bunker broke out and lead the way with a cumulative .333/.433/.625 line.

What went wrong?

Well if you score 5.5 runs a game it’s no good to give up 6 a game. David Lewis was good but that was about it. Juan Rivera and Harmon both got rocked in their only starts and Stanley Price was not good in both of his.

What’s next?

Well the offseason. The team locked up some expiring contracts. Not a lot of action is thought to be on the horizon this year as the team is seemingly set to return as is in 2012.
