Slug This...The Hopkins Era...2009 3.11 4th round picks?!

Louisville GM Hopkins announced his 2, fourth round picks today to the restlessly bored Louisville press hordes.

"GM!"the cry came from the most senior writer,"We don't give a shit who your 4th round picks are! Stop bothering us with 'news; that isn't 'news' And please, no more about Cleo Blanco."

"Only one Slugger ever drafted in the fourth round ever made the show,"cried another,"Vernon Scott! Who? Exactly!"

"Hmm..well...these two boys are different,"GM Hopkins began.

"We don't care! Call the Ocala Single A press corps instead of us, 'cause thats as far as these 'suspects' are going to get!"

"I have free Louisville Slugger pens, mugs, and penlights..."GM Hopkins teased,"And a nice little lunch buffet organised for after the conference..."

"For God's sake! Let the man talk!"The hungry impoverished writers sat back down and sat at rapt attention, pens poised over their notebooks.

"Ok,"GM Hopkins beamed,'Our first fourth round pick is 18 year-old Sam Hampton. He's a right-handed hitting shortstop, who has been an high-school all-star the last two seasons at Buffalo Wild Wings. He also won the Glove Wizard award as a junior at SS. We project him as a solid MBBA regular a few years down the line. He'll be starting with our second round pick, 2B Satan's Whelp, in Slippery Rock this season, and we think they'll form a solid double-play combo all the way up the organisational chain.

"Our next pick was our first college aged player selection of the draft, 23 year-old Venezuelan outfielder Bernalldo Broa. Broa was Greenville's third round selection (83rd overall) last year, but couldn't come to contract terms with them. We project Broa as being only one or two seasons away from the Show, (a lot closer than our other selections this year), but we see his ceiling as somewhat lower than our other picks. We're thinking he should eventually make it as a good fourth outfielder. He can flat out run, and he's already mastered the fundamentals of defence and bunting. We're hoping he can provide what Chris Thomas provided, before his substance abuse problem."

"We only have this pick because we couldn't come to terms with 2007 4th round draft pick, Manuel Rosas, or our 2008 fourth round pick, Jesse Burgess. We feel that Broa is a better professional prospect than either of these two failed signings. Hopefully, third time is a charm, and we sign Broa into our system."

But the writers had already left. One hawk-eyed hack and spotted the wait staff thru the partially closed media room door, working across the hall laying out the spread, and had bolted from the room. A stampede of penpushers had swiftly followed. The wait staff never had a chance. The press hordes noisily gorged as the wait staff painfully helped eachother out of the carnage.

You got two kids whom have the potential to be bench players some day if the stars align... which is considerably better than anyone could ever hope for in the MBBA 4th round... that's definitely worth an article!
