Re: 2009, FA #1 Chatter
My fans and I are PUMPED (seriously, I think my FI went up like 10 points)!
A career .378 OBP/.851 OPS in the MBBA with an average of 3.5 WAR over his last 4 seasons in this league - a HUGE get, with no draft pick loss and not too bad on term (only 4 guaranteed seasons).
So my IF goes from Ta-Ewing-MacKinney-Toro (probably the worst in the league) to Bonilla-Maselli-MacKinney-Toro in what... 3 days?
In semi-related news, I fear that Rodriguez is destined for the EBA... I offered him a potential 31M over 2 years with 15.5 guaranteed in year 1 and he scoffed at it (mostly the term, obviously) - anyone else going to be willing to go higher than that for a 40 year old?
Grats to Louisville as well on landing Paez. I thought about trying to go after him, but I was concerned about how he would translate to the MBBA since he had no point of reference in the league throughout his career.

Yeah grats to Louisville, I put in a bid but it wasn't up to snuff to the Sluggers offer.

I had to give Paz what he asked for; I can't afford to play hardball in negotiations given the state of my starting pitching!
I figure he'll be a #3 type of starter...I currently have a #2 and a bunch of #5's...

I wanted to skip a 'bidding war' for Maselli and figured a contract that put him in the top 5 for salary in the league would be a quick accept from him - especially since it was 150% of what he was initially asking for in per year salary.
