2008 V5 - Harvey Snubbed in All-Star Selection Process
Several Black Sox players were shocked and awed by the ommission of shortstop Duncan Harvey from the Johnson League All-Star team. Harvery is currently 2nd amongst all Johnson League shortstops in batting average (.317), slugging percentage (.531), OPS (.885), home runs (15), RBI's (53) and stolen bases (11) trailing only the immortal Bopper Kengos in most categories. He was considered a shoe-in to backup Kengos in this year's mid-summer classic. Instead of Harvey, Omaha was given a 2nd player on the JL team as shortstop Kenji Masaki will make his 2nd All-Star game supposedly on the strength of his defense.
Masaki, who in past season's was known for his great defense, is a strange selection in many respects as Harvey ranks ahead of him in almost every offensive category and also defensively looks to be behind Hawaii's Kanzaburo Yamaguchi in this year's gold glove race. Additionally, Phoenix's shortstop Jack McKeon also looks to be a better selection both offensively and defensively than Masaki.
Harvey wasn't one to complain stating simply, "The team comes first. I couldn't be happier with where I am right now - I don't need an All-Star game to justify that fact."
Based on these stats/fact, it looks like the 4th best shortstop in the Midwest Division somehow ended up representing the JL in this year's game.

Hopefully he doesn't tank during the second half because of the snub;)

Commish - did you pick Gleeson as my All-Star or did the game select him?

Maybe Harvey would have had a better shot as a 3B?
