Slugger Shavings 2064.5 - Amphibian Johnson Looks Back

Post by RT60 » Tue Oct 28, 2025 11:19 am

"I loved it in Louisville," exclaimed Amphibian Johnson. "I miss those days. I felt like I was going to be a franchise player and get the key to the city. I met my wife there and I'm sure at some point we will come back to the area."

"That kid is the best. And I don't just say that because he was my first-ever draft pick," noted GM BP. "He was an amazing player when he was here and the fans loved him. Trading him was the hardest decision I ever made, but I think it was a good decision."

"Yeah, I hated the trade at the time," admitted Amphibian. "But seeing how the Sluggers have benefitted from it, I can't fault them."

Benefitted indeed. In 2060, the team was at the trough of its decade-long rebuild. Amphibian was on his way to his best offensive season of his career. He was likely at the peak of his trade value, and was in the second year of a 6-year/68M contract. When Sacramento offered solid prospects in Ricardo Capeles, Justin Weatherford, Seiichi Suzuki, Ethan Bricknell, and $11.5M in cash, GM BP couldn't say no.

"That cash came in very handy, and all four of those players are part of our team to this day. They have helped us immensely the last four years. The success we have had in 2064 can definitely be attributed to them collectively, and therefore, can also be attributed to Amphibian."

Amphibian looks like he is going to hit free agency. Would be nice to see him back in Louisville if the price is right. Can't hit anymore but can still pick 'em. Even if he backs up Weatherford, it would be a nice compliment.
