
Aztecs solid over six game stretch
Mexico City goes 5-1 on the week but it may be too little, too late
Game 1: Boise @ Mexico City
- Dave Corfield picks up win #265: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 5 K
- Jonathan Sobers closes out the game to notch his 17th save
- Key moment: In the bottom of the 4th inning with a runner on 1st, Julio Martinez cranked a 2-run homer to put the Aztecs up 3-2 for good
Game 2: San Antonio @ Mexico City
- Tony Kaufman moves to 10-9 on the season: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 3 K
- Mike Dykstra picks up his 1st save of the season
- Key moment: In the bottom of the 6th inning Steve Lindberg hit a 2-run homer to put the Aztecs ahead 2-0. It was his 14th HR on the year. He also added a double going 2-for-3
Game 3: San Antonio @ Mexico City
- Jesús Fox makes his Major League debut: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 4 K
although he didn't get the win, it was a great first game in the bigs for Fox
- Vic Roddam stepped in to pitch 2 innings and get the win for Mexico City
- Key moment: In the bottom of the 10th inning tied 5-5, Julio Martinez drew a game ending walk-off walk from Outlaws reliever Steve McFarland who was charged with a BS
Game 4: San Antonio @ Mexico City
- Mike Dykstra managed to pick up the win and a blown save in the same game. It was his first win on the season.
- Vic Roddam once again made a late appearance for the Aztecs, picking up the save and closing out the game by facing only 2 batters.
- Key moment: Ross DeVille was the hero for Mexico City in this one going 2 for 4 with a triple and a double, while driving in 3 runs and scoring one himself. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the 6th, Ross "The Boss" Deville hit a sac fly to give the Aztecs a 5-4 lead. Deville is 5th in hits for the JL with 159
Game 5: San Antonio @ Mexico City
- Arlen Dawkins snags his 7th win on the season: 6.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K
- Manny Ortega picks up the save, his first
- Key moment: Here's a name you haven't heard in awhile, Keith Jahnke smacked a 2-run double in the in the bottom of the third.
Jahkne was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. The Aztecs had 17 hits in the game
No need to sour the fun week by mentioning the 3-1 loss to the Phoenix Talons to end the stretch..
