Trade details:

The Mexico City Aztecs have traded starting pitcher Owen Geddes to the division rival Phoenix Talons. Geddes currently leads the Aztecs in Wins, Strikeout, WAR, and FIP.
In return the Aztecs receive the 2063 3rd round pick Gary Hochstetler and $750,000. Hochstetler was drafted by the San Fernando Bears and then traded to Phoenix. Hochstetler is a 21-year-old groundball pitcher and switch-hitting DH.
GM Brandon Tucker had this to say regarding the trade of their best pitcher:
"We had no intentions of trading Geddes, in fact we were discussing a possible one-year extension. We were approached by Phoenix, and the deal just sort of fell into place after a few days of back-and-forth discussions. We love Owen and all that he has contributed to this team this season, but the reality is that we have a 0.6% chance of making the playoffs and a 0.0% chance at winning the division. We have to focus on next season and beyond and once we did that, it became clear that it was in our best interest to move Geddes who will turn 39 years old in 112 days. He is the captain of this team and popular with the fans, so we are prepared for some backlash over this deal. But once you start listening to the fan's direction for your organization, you will soon be sitting with them.
We did what was best for the future in Mexico City."
