Charm City 2063.8 - Top Minor League Performers Announced

As the minor league teams conclude their first season under OOTP 26 let's take a look at the top performers for each level of our minor league system.

AAA - ANNAPOLIS SAILORS:

Best Hitter:
Despite missing a large portion of the season due to injuries Manny Labarca was able to land the top spot in AAA while posting .322 batting average with 10 homers, 57 RBI, and 3.2 WAR in just 97 games. Our former first round pick from 2062 appears to be big league ready, but unfortunetly we don't have an open slot in the big leagues for him presently. Hopefully a run through the development lab can help me this offseason.

Best Pitcher:
Former 2061 4th round pick Lynwood Faulkner grabs the top award in AAA this year. Faulkner posted a 10-5 record with a save and a 3.08 ERA in 154.2 innings of work this year. He appears to be a AAAA type player, but at 21 years old there is room to grow.

AA - FREDERICK TRAVELERS:

Best Hitter:
Our top prospect and former 5th round pick in 2058 Alan Kinney was our best hitter in this year in AA. Kinney posted .288/.392/.494/.886 slash line with 16 homers and 56 RBI before being promoted to AAA. If all goes well Kinney could see time in Charm City in either 2064 or 2065.

Best Pitcher:
Ruben Flores, a former 12th round pick back in 2059 takes the prize in AA this year. Flores went 9-7 with a 2.60 ERA in 138.1 innings this year. At 23 years old Flores is going to need some help to make the big leagues, but our scouting staff feels like he took a step forward this season in development.

A - CUMBERLAND MINERS:

Best Hitter:
I was happy to see the progress that Jesse Sanders took this year. Sanders posted a .326/.389/.461/.850 slash line with 8 homers and 46 RBI prior to being promoted to AA. Sanders appears to be on a trajectory to be a super sub role if he reaches the majors. 2064 will be a big year for his development.

Best Pitcher:
9-6 with a 4.06 ERA in 168.2 innings of work was what landed Mario Perez the honor this year. Our 2062 4th round pick has been slowly trending in the upward direction. He's going to need to continue to reach the majors, but we're happy with the performance so far.

SA - CAYMAN ISLANDERS:

Best Hitter:
I'm not going to lie I don't remember who Mestan Koraltan is, but he was on the best hitter award for Cayman. Koraltan hit .297/.342/.460/.803 with a 10.1 ZR and 2.4 WAR in 72 games. A former minor league free agent signing had himself a nice year. Hopefully it will lead to some good development in the future.

Best Pitcher:
Another former minor league free agent signing, Albert Cordova, was our top pitcher with Cayman this year. Cordova went 8-2 with a 1.69 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 96 innings this year. Cordova currently is showing as our 3rd rated prospect per BNN. I'm hopeful to see him continue his positive results.

R - ASSATEAGUE PONIES:

Best Hitter:
An area where I have not had any luck in development since joining the BBA is the international minor league free agents. I don't remember the last time I had a hit in that field. You might be wondering why bring this up? The reason is simple Sabeer Ayyub was our best hitter in Assateague this year and was an international minor league free agent signing from 2060. Ayyub posted a .298/.383/.517/.900 slash line with 12 homers and 46 RBI this season. He's one a few players signed through the international market that I have an eye on for their development.

Best Pitcher:
Abdul-Tawwab Mundhir takes the pitching award this year. Mundhir was acquired from Charlotte last year in a trade. He posted a 3-3 record with a 4.50 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 64 innings. Not ground breaking stats, but it generated the highest WAR among pitchers this year.
