Re: 2063 BBA FA Draft Compensation
I pulled these from sortable stats in v25. I just opened up the old game and it lists 1.3 WAR. My opinion would be that we should use v25 to define the stats since that's the version we played the games in, but obviously up for discussion. And pretty interesting that it changed.

Re: 2063 BBA FA Draft Compensation
I noticed that with McClure of Bikini. I distinctly remember him having 0.0 WAR. But when I look at reports it says 0.4. I thought I was just having a case of the Mandela effect. So I'm glad to see I am not crazy.
Honestly, I don't really care. We're talking about a 45 potential draft pick. But for what it's worth, that guy is a backup catcher.
Not saying anyone did this. But I am saying that I would if I was rebuilding. It seems pretty easy to manipulate catcher and RP WAR right now. You could literally start a RP for a couple of games and get a big WAR boost to hit .8 WAR easily. And I don't know what is up with catcher WAR. I had 3 different catchers post at least 1.7 WAR. It just seems every catcher in the league is at least 1.5.

I agree, I just don’t have a solution to recommend to remediate and I wouldn’t call it broken since there was one guy at each position.ae37jr wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 3:23 pmI noticed that with McClure of Bikini. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with WAR at catcher if you’re a buyer of framing runs. WAR should be relatively “zero sum”. Maybe somebody can add up WAR by position to test.
And the reliever thing is only true if they’re a good enough pitcher to accrue some WAR as a starter which by definition is a pretty useful pitcher.

Re: 2063 BBA FA Draft Compensation
WAR has changed year to year in every version since I began working on Draft Comp. WAR recalculation seems to happen after Jan 1.
