PRESS CONFERENCE: Gertie Goes Public – "I Want the Wolves"

In a surprise announcement that sent shockwaves through the BBA community, longtime superfan and shadowy billionaire Gertie Haines stepped to the podium at Shotz Stadium this morning and made her boldest move yet:

"I want the Wolves," she said with unmistakable conviction.

The press conference, held hastily with little warning, was attended by an overflowing crowd of reporters, stunned front office staff, and a smattering of confused fans still sipping their morning krakshakes. Behind Gertie, the Jumbotron lit up with a black-and-gold Wolves logo and a looping animation of a howling wolf silhouetted by a full moon.

"For too long, I’ve watched this team struggle," Gertie continued, her voice steady. "The Wolves are more than just a franchise — they are a symbol of resilience, of loyalty, of grit. But they’ve been caged by neglect. That ends today."

The Wolves just wrapped up a disastrous 100-loss season — their first in over a decade — under the quiet and increasingly scrutinized ownership of Ahmed bin Mohammed, who has held the team reins for 25 years. Despite whispers of fan unrest, no official comment has come from bin Mohammed or his camp in recent weeks.

Today, Gertie made it clear that she intends to be the change.

GM Simon, looking polished but slightly nervous, stood silently behind her, hands clasped. Observers noted a brief, telling nod exchanged between them — an unspoken agreement formed long ago during her behind-the-scenes maneuverings.

"This isn't just about buying a team," Gertie said. "It’s about bringing the Wolves back to life. I’ve spent the last year investing in the people, the spirit, and the culture of this club. The world may just be learning of my intentions — but trust me, this has been in motion for a long, long time."

When asked about next steps, Gertie simply smiled.

"Let’s just say I’ve made an offer that’s hard to ignore. The ball is in Ahmed’s court now. But whether it takes days, months, or the whole damn offseason — I’m not going anywhere. Shotz Stadium will echo with howls again."

With that, she turned from the podium, leaving stunned reporters shouting follow-ups and fans buzzing with excitement.

If this is the beginning of the end for the Wolves' current ownership — and the dawn of the Gertie Era — it started with a bang, not a whisper.
