The Tropics commit three errors, and the offense hit into two double plays as they fall to Portland in the series opener. Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds, Mitch Wareham and Na’il bin Hakim each booted a ball with only one unearned to show for it.
Jose Ordonez pitched three innings allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while fanning five batters. He was also 0 for 5 at the plate with a walk. Julian Rivera was 3 for 4 with a solo homer (3) in the 5th inning.

Hawaii starter Barney Lindsey has improved from his battle with Low T to pitch seven strong innings for the Tropics. He gave up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four batters for the win. Curt Bott came on in the bottom of the 9th and struck out two of the three batters he faced to earn the save.
On offense, Jose Ordonez was 2 for 4 smacking his 4th homer of the season with a two-run rocket in the 5th inning. Na’il bin Hakim was 3 for 4 with a two-run homer (3), three RBI and scored three runs. Julian Rivera was 2 for 4 with a double (10) and scored two runs.

The Tropics and Lumberjacks were scoreless through 6 innings before Hawaii’s offense scores three runs in the 7th. They added a single run in the 8th to go up 4-0 before Reynolds walked a tightrope in the 9th giving up two runs before finishing the game off.
Niegloslaw Woywitka pitched six scoreless innings against Portland giving up just five hits and issued a walk while striking out three to earn the win. Utbah ‘Crawdad Me’ bin Muta pitched 1.2 scoreless innings for his 2nd hold of the season.
Carlos Antunez was 3 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and scored a run. Eric Owens was 2 for 4 with an RBI before leaving the game with a sore calf. Na’il bun Hakim was 1 for 3 with a walk and a ribbie.

Bernie Stuart dominated the Hawaii lineup as the Lumberjacks avoid an embarrassing series loss to the Trops. Stuart allowed just two runs on four hits and a walk in seven innings to earn the win. Hawaii starter Semih Gurani wasn’t as good as he gave up five runs on ten hits and three walks un 4.1 innings. He struck out just one batter and threw 78 pitches in the game.
Julian Rivera had 3 of Hawaii’s 4 hits going 3 for 3 with a double (11) and two RBI. Jose Ordonez had the other hit going 1 for 2 with a walk and scored a run.
Tropics and Lumberjacks split the four-game series.
