Injured Rookie Predicts Debut In Playoffs

September 5, 2061: Marshall Islands – AAA starter ans top Bikini prospect Paul Worboys made a media splash today when he said he thought he might make his professional debut pitching in the silly postseason exhibition tournament played in October. Worboys, who is 21 years old, was the team's first round draft pick in 2059 and has rocketed his way through the organization's minor league structure before spending the past couple months on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. He posted a record of only three wins over six losses in AAA Pasco, but in another great example of why wins and losses are not the best metric for pitchers, his ERA stands at 2.89 with a flip of 3.17, (68 FIP-).

He struck out 7.6 hitters per 9 innings, while walking only 1.3 and allowing just over a half a home run a game. In other words, the kid was really pitching. The idea on its own might actually have some merit, especially given the fact that the Krill are heading to the postseason minus two of its primary rotation pieces in Jon Brown and Brody Picot.

“That would be so cool,” the youthful pitcher said while making a PR stop at a Forever Land restaurant while finishing his convalescence. “And I know I can do it. The docs say I'm only a week or two away from being able to pitch again, and I'm getting myself back into shape. That would be so cool to debut in the Geoghegan round cotton wouldn't it?”

Unfortunately it is expected that the league rules would keep this from being able to happen. Worboys is not on the club’s official 40 man secondary roster at present, and was not on the 40 man prior to September 1st—which is, we think anyway, the deadline for setting eligibility for this silly postseason tournament that everyone gets so Gaga about at this time of the season. Worboys comment has the team thinking, though. We're sure that general manager Ron Collins and assistant general manager Monica Green will be exploring every opportunity to twist and bend the rules.

So, who knows? Perhaps this season will pull another weird rabbit out of its sleeve And we will see a rookie make his debut in the postseason. The fan base, who immediately surged to several virtual media platforms to express their support, would certainly love to see it.

We're not betting on it, but we agree with Paul Worboys.

It would be cool.

You should be able to make him an injury replacement for one of those other pitchers.

I think those also have to come from the 40 man?

That would be a cool way to start his big league career.
