Cairo Not Active During Trade Season, Immediately Backfires

Post by swillthough » Wed Dec 11, 2024 3:37 pm

A wise man once said, "If you ain't trading, you ain't winning." Cairo not being active in the trade market during the regular season has finally came around to whooping their ass. A key member of the starting rotation Khaleel bin Zubair has gone down with a torn labrum, marking him out for the rest of the 2061 season.

bin Zubair has gone through so much just to get to this point, being minor league fodder in the BBA on both the Hawaii Tropics and Portland Lumberjacks before finally being given a minor league contract for the Pharoahs. Finally getting to see GBC action at 29, his rookie year was mid but it was enough to get a championship and keep a spot in the rotation for 2061. He was finally coming into his own until this brutal injury and Cairo clearly did not plan for this to happen. There's a next year for him but this is devastating for a Cairo team that is in win now mode. A report has also surfaced that GM Will punched a hole through his monitor in frustration due to these events.

So what is the immediate solution for Cairo? Pitcher Jason Ramey is likely to get the call up to replace bin Zubair. Ramey started out as a third round pick by the Atlantic City Gamblers in the 2040 draft and pitched on the major league club from 2045 until 2049 putting up some unremarkable numbers. From then on, his career has trended so far down it is amazing how he can get a role at this point. He rotted in the BBA minor leagues until signing with Athens on a minor league deal in 2056, pitched a full GBC season with Sydney in 2057, and has bounced around multiple GBC farm systems until this point in time. The 39 year old is due to make his 2061 GBC debut on August 1st versus Jerusalem.
