Aztecs owner Meat Poplowski Jr. Jr.: Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to Ullamaliztli Field on this exciting day for the Aztecs as we welcome our new GM Brandon Tucker to Mexico City. He recently helped guide the Moscow Thunder Bears to a division crown and almost a GBC title in only its second year as an organization. We feel that he was the right GM for our organization at this time, and with that, I will turn it over to him.
GM Brandon Tucker: Thank you everyone for the huge Mexico City welcome you have shown me in just the few days I have been here.
I want to thank Meat Poplowski Jr.Jr. for this opportunity along with the entire Aztecs organization.
Where do I begin? I think every GM in the GBC has the goal and the hope of one day getting that call from the commissioner's office saying that they have been selected to be called up to the BBA. For me, that call came on a Friday night as I was looking over Moscow's roster before our playoff game versus Beunos Aires. "It's time," said the commissioner. "Let's go!!! I replied.
I hung up the phone stunned but excited.
You often wonder what team you will get paired with when you do finally get that call, and for me, I couldn't have asked for a better situation than Mexico City.
It is not lost on me that I follow in the footsteps of Fred Holmes. The 5-time JL GM of the Year who guided this very Aztecs team to back-to-back Brewster Memorial Series, winning it all in 2052 over the Nashville Bluebirds. Passing that championship trophy in the hall was a sight to behold. Fred has made this organization proud, and I can only hope to carry on his legacy in my time as GM here.
I've spoken to Fred, and he has helped make this transition as smooth as possible.
We have several exciting announcements to make over the next couple of days so stay tuned.
