As Russelville wrapped up its season with a record of 40-28, it is time to take a look at how the starting pitching did in 2060. Overall the starting pitcher put together an ERA of 3.45 while the bullpen chipped in with an ERA of 3.74. The starters combined for a record of 17-13.
The starting rotation held its own in the first four spots while two-way player Charlie Cross was tried out in the fifth position. Below is a quick summary of how each of the starters did:
Ernesto Escalante – After an opening day injury, Ernesto had a solid season. Although his win-loss record was 2-3, he had an ERA of 2.25 with a WHIP of 1.02. Ernesto had 26 strikeouts in 44 innings and only allowed three walks. Look for the 17 year-old and 2059 first round pick to move to Short Season A in 2061.
Bao-tian Teoh – Another first round pick like Ernesto but from the 2060 draft, Bao, also a 17 year-old, went 5-3 in his first season. Bao had an ERA of 2.48 with a WHIP of 1.18. Bao struck out 44 battters in 80 innings of work while walking 12. It is expected that Bao will start out 2061 in Short Season A as well.
Bhadrasila Chetapallivara – Bhad is the old man compared to the previous two players at 19 years old. Bhad had a decent 2060 season going 6-4 with an ERA of 3.27 and a WHIP of 1.34. If you take out his first start where Bhad gave up 7 runs in 2.2 innings those ERA/WHIP numbers go to 2.54/1.25. Expect Bhad to move along to Short Season A in 2061.
John Franklin – Another 19 year-old, John went 4-2 in the 2060 season. He had an ERA of 3.77 and a WHIP of 1.48 this season while striking out 44 batters in 63 innings. John may go to short season A next year since he is 19 years old, but it will depend on how the off season goes with next yer’s draft, free agent signings and what not.
Charlie Cross – Charlie’s main role is playing first base but was tried out as pitcher as well. He had 7 starts only going 14 innings while having a 5.52 ERA. There will be serious consideration next year of having him focus on the offensive side of things.
