2060.16 Sim 1 Recap-Charlotte struggles in opening series against Brooklyn

The Charlotte Flyers took on the Brooklyn Robins in a three game series to start the 2060 campaign. The

Game 1 was a frustrating 5-2 loss highlighted by a great pitching performance by Buwono Mainaky.

Game 2 was a 3-1 win in which Jim Fleming dominated the Robins lineup, allowing just 2 singles and 2 walks in 7 innings. After his opening day meltdown, Alejandro Chávez earned his first save of the season, though it wasnt without drama. He allowed a home run and a single in one inning of work.

Game 3 got out of hand early as John Rasmussen III allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and a walk in just 3.1 innings. The next three pitchers combined to allow 8 runs on 13 hits over the next 5 innings before Lorenzo Aguilar finally pitched a clean inning in the 9th. Virtually the entire Robins team had a field day but the star of the game for Brooklyn was newly acquired 3B Jorge Canó, who went 3-5 with a single, a double, and a home run, driving in 2. His 7 total bases lead the team easily.

Little Johnny's rough outing may not be cause for concern. He is coming off of three consecutive strong seasons with the Flyers and he did have a spring ERA of 1.74 in 20.2 innings. However, his velocity is down a bit and his stuff doesn't seem to be quite the same as it was last year. The baseball world will be watching as he makes his next couple of starts to see if he is able to adjust to his new reality.

Up next, the Flyers head to Atlantic City for three games before coming back home to take on the defending Johnson League champions, the Charm City Jimmies.
