I'll admit I don't really know why more GMs don't like to tell little snippets about their team or players. To me, that immersion into the world is a large part of the fun of being in an online league. That and the chess game thinking that goes into running a team. Just have fun, I figure. Be like Vic. Enjoy the team, win or lose, and the league will always give back more than you give.

Back in the day I used to put out a PPT report every season. Bottom line, as with everything else, participation begets participation...and a lot of it has to do with participation on the FORUMs. When someone puts down a TN and no one reads it or comments on it, or whatever, I think that turns some folks off. Literally the easiest PPT points on the board are the 15 you get from Forum posts. All you have to do is chat and comment, shooting from the hip, all season long. That's barely even writing. But very few people ever get those 15.
I find it a little odd folks don't write more as a rule as well. Sometimes it is a time thing. I tend to write mostly about my off-season work and then season gets going and I lose a little interest because my team is usually ass. I'm hoping for it to be a little different. But I have been trying to do a bit more posts about little things, like signing another Thum (is he the illegitimate son? You'll have to wait and see...) or the time I put myself in DFA hell.

I also like making up little ideas and running with them, like how Dave Lee thinks he's a closer.

As far as it goes though, when a post gets no comments after I work on it, it does sting a bit. And no, we can't all read everything, but I do try to read as much as I can and to comment if I think I have something to say --or just thumbs up if I don't. And also, sometimes you just aren't feeling it. My participation was waaay down in in 2059, as I've freely admitted. I was still in that higher group of participants, but not like I normally do because I didn't like 25's changes (still don't) and it made me question things. Hard to get the oomph to write when you're cursing at the game a lot.

ANYWAY, for what it's worth, I think we have a great group of regular contributors. Not going to name names, but you know who you are. And I think we're seeing more posts generally. What I'm hoping for is that those who aren't contributing as much on the forums either try for the first time or try again. And those of us who ARE on the forums a lot - let's make sure those people who post less frequently get good engagement from us when they post, so they want to post again. I know sometimes I'm guilty of sticking to the people I already talk to a lot on here. I'm trying to be better about that. Some of you are already amazing at engaging with seemingly everyone - and I'm going to try more of that myself. Hope others do as well.

As some Monty-less GM said, "participation begets participation" - so let's ensure when folks post content we want to see more of that we let 'em know with thumbs up and comments. I feel like we're moving in the right direction on that. Let's keep it up!
