59.12 Blazers Trade for Closer, Bid Adieu to Aldo

Montreal reached a deal with Vancouver today to trade lifetime Blazer Lineu Aldo, three prospects, and $300,000 in return for closer Gerald Rogers.

Prior to being traded to Vancouver, Rogers saved 119 games for Yellow Springs between 2051 and 2058, including 44 saves in 2056.

Aldo is only 26 hits away from 3,000 career BBA hits. In nineteen years with the Blazers, he has accumulated 68.4 WAR with 429 home runs and 658 stolen bases. Last season, he hit .313 with 48 stolen bases.

Montreal will retain 50% of Aldo’s $18,000,000 2059 salary.

The three prospects are AA RHP Sergio Valdés, Single-A 1B León Sánchez, and Rookie ball SS Jack Liss.
